How do you define success?

Success is the end of a very long journey.

How do you measure your own success?

In my personal life, I measure success by the happiness and wellbeing of my family. In my professional life, I measure success by being momentarily satisfied with a result and then instinctively thinking, ok what next? How can I leverage this? You see I have been trained in public relations and in PR you’re only as good as the last thing you did. The news cycle moves quickly, and it’s on to the next. Some might say that’s a terrible mentality to have, but for me, it keeps me constantly on my toes. I compete with myself.

How does success feel?

Fleeting. I am a firm believer that I am always one step away from failure on any given day. I don’t think about success. Success doesn’t define or drive me. I am motivated by what I haven’t done.

When was the last time you felt successful? What happened?

My book LEAVE YOUR MARK launched on May 5, 2015. I did the PR and social strategy for it myself. My Thunderclap campaign broke their book record at 8.4 million impressions.

How do you celebrate your success?

Wine marks all my happy occasions. Toasting with wonderful people and a good glass of red wine can seal any deal.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to be successful?

Keep pushing forward, work hard, and know that no matter how good you are, you can always be better.
